LaPorte FC is very much and specifically a soccer club that brings with it the flaws and imperfections, the strengths and convictions, the hopes and dreams, of its people.
It's the place where this community expresses itself.
You see, soccer is an expression of its people. Watch English soccer—you see grit and physicality. German soccer—discipline and system. Brazilian soccer—creativity and flair. LaPorte is hardworking and resilient—rooted in manufacturing and agriculture. What happens when LaPorte expresses itself in how it plays and competes?
We've got 451 kids from 339 families. We've grown 54% in four years.
We are creating the space—literally, a $15 million facility, and culturally, through a $2 million endowment that funds the Academy Model and makes this accessible to every kid in LaPorte—for that expression to happen.
What does that become 25 years from now? Here's what I'm building toward:
A place where we come together, with sport as the catalyst and common denominator.
Where we learn, teach, and practice sport, sportsmanship, and citizenship.
Where my friend, family, neighbor, and I feel comfortable and proud.
When our opponent visits, they're welcomed as guests of honor, yet met with boldness and strength in competition.
For our athletes, coaches, fans, and me—from childhood to old age—it is our place.
Our Club for Life.
